Hollywood Insider Interview with Actress Elaina Adrianna

Hollywood World: What do you love about the role that you are currently playing?

Elaina Adrianna: The most recent role I did was the character of Claire in a short film called Sessions. I loved this character’s will to continue pushing to find the truth about her family and her ability to persevere after every shortfall she encountered. The writing for this character was fantastic and really gave me room to explore and play as an actress.

Hollywood World: What makes a good scene partner?

Elaina Adrianna: A great scene partner focuses on reacting off of the other actors and letting the scene organically build and play out. One character that sticks out was my role of Mrs. Janas in the mini-series Hell House. I started the series playing a newlywed into playing a pregnant woman and eventually a mother of 2 pre-teens. In this journey, the actor playing Mr. Janas and I had to respond to each other’s energy which allowed the story line to evolve.

Hollywood World: What are your favorite projects you have been part of?

Elaina Adrianna: My favorite project so far has definitely been Sessions. Our film was nominated for best film in the 48 Hour Film Project for LA. John and I also both picked up nominations for best actor and actress. The interesting thing about this film was that it was originally created for the 48 Hour Film Project, meaning that the entire script, location scouting, casting, shooting the film and editing is done all within 48 hours for this competition. This made for a very challenging job as an actor to really dive into the character with such a small window to explore the character. It was SO much fun to dive into this hectic little puzzle as an actor.

Hollywood World: How much experience do you have in the field?

Elaina Adrianna: I started acting from a young age at a theater in Germany and my love for acting never went away. I studied theater at George Mason University in Virginia, and switched over to TV and film while still in college. I have been working in TV and Film for about 4 years now.

Hollywood World: Describe your best quality as an actor?

Elaina Adrianna: I believe my best quality as an actor is being able to use subtleties in my eyes to express my character’s emotions. I also have ability to take notes from my directors and adapt without letting it throw me off; an extremely valuable asset.

Hollywood World: What do you enjoy the most about your job?

Elaina Adrianna: I love having the opportunity to dive into so many different life situations with each character I have the privilege of playing. Every single day is unique and each character requires new discoveries and intricacies to bring them to life.

Hollywood World: What have you learned from the directors that you have worked with throughout your career?

Elaina Adrianna: Listen. Listen to your scene partner, listen to what the script is begging you to reveal and listen to the inner voice of your character and then find the human behavior within it all.

Hollywood World: From where have you learned acting? What training do you have?

Elaina Adrianna: I fell in love with acting when I started learning in elementary school at the Five Pfennig Playhouse in Germany. When I decided to go to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, I knew I there wasn’t anything else I really wanted to spend 4 years studying other than Theater. I started looking for every opportunity I could to be on stage or in front of the camera. I started with background roles on TV shows and moved to lead roles in student films. Those turned into Co-Star and Guest Star roles on TV and leads in short films. Although I was learning a lot on the East Coast, I have always had my sights set on LA.

After graduating in December 2016, I moved to Los Angeles in 2017. While in Los Angels, I have trained at the Margie Haber Studio, Pearlman Acting Academy, The Bramon Garcia Braun Studio, and LA Acting Studios. I have also taken Improv 101 and 201 with the Upright Citizens Brigade. I continue to search for any opportunity to learn new techniques and apply them to future roles!

Hollywood World: What has been your biggest achievement in the field of acting?

Elaina Adrianna: I would have to say picking up my recent nomination for Best Actress in Sessions!

Hollywood World: What other types of movies would you be interested in filming?

Elaina Adrianna: I would LOVE to play a badass lead character like Charlize Theron in Mad Max or an Amazonian in Wonder Woman 2. I started training at Richard Mesquita Martial Arts learning American Kenpo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I would love the opportunity to use those skills in a film. I also enjoy doing horror movies; my favorite genre of film. I welcome the chance to be in a film like the Conjuring, portraying a possessed woman or a challenging role such as Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place where she pulled a range of emotions with almost no dialogue.  I also love riding motorcycles and think I would rock an awesome biker girl in a Son’s of Anarchy spin-off.

Hollywood World: How do you see your role as an actor?

Elaina Adrianna: I believe my role as an actor is to always inspire, motivate or effect the viewer in some way.

Hollywood World: What was your most memorable role? Why?

Elaina Adrianna: My most memorable role still has to be Claire from Sessions because of the impact it had on other people. After the screenings in LA and at other film festivals, my team and I were approached several times by women who were adopted. After the “Best Of” screening for the 48 Hour Film Project, two women approached me and said the film inspired them to search for their birth mothers. As an actor, the ability to impact others’ lives is something you always wish to do through your art. These interactions were very touching for me in realizing our team had created a piece that motivated and empowered people to take action with the possibility of changing their lives.

Hollywood World: What other hobbies do you have?

Elaina Adrianna: I love my martial arts training. I’ve always wanted to learn some form of martial art and finally diving into it has been such an amazing experience. I love sparring and how it is not only physical but also a mental exercise in calculating your next move. I also very much enjoy horseback riding, modeling, and singing. I’ve been doing these since I was a little girl.

Hollywood World: Who is your role model?

Elaina Adrianna: My parents are 100%. I grew up in a military family and traveled all over the world as a kid. My parents have always been extremely supportive of my need to be an actor and a singer. They have been the ones pushing me and encouraging me every step of the way.

Hollywood World: Any tips about how to be a successful actor?

Elaina Adrianna: Always be willing to learn. As an actor it is extremely crucial to learn as much as you can from everyone around you, take the pieces that effect you the most and use them for your performances.

Hollywood World: What do you want to be remembered for in life? What valuable lessons have you learned that helped you become the person you are today?

Elaina Adrianna: One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is to show kindness to everyone around me and to listen before I speak. A quote I’ve heard and loved was to always be the nicest, and most hard working person you can be, otherwise someone else will be.

Hollywood World: What’s next?

Elaina Adrianna: Right now I am training and have been auditioning for some pretty cool projects. Unfortunately, I can’t say much about them for the time being but I hope to be making an appearance in some awesome stuff pretty soon!
