Christopher Torretto: Right now I am getting ready to play the role of officer Daniel Flynn of the LAPD in the major TV drama series Emergency: LA which is shooting very soon. I can’t wait to take on the role of this character as it’s an absolute honor to take on the role of an officer from one of the greatest services in the world.
Hollywood World: What is the storyline about?
Christopher Torretto: Emergency:LA revolves around the Fictional Emergency services based out of Station 77 of the LA City Fire Department, Downtown LA district of the LAPD and the Emergency Hospital treatment center Trauma One. The series will focus on the day to day activities, rescues, investigations and treatments, that take place in the respective environments as well as the personal lives of the characters that inhabit them
Hollywood World: Who else is involved in this production, director, producer, actors?
Christopher Torretto: This show has some amazing people in it . Actors like WWE Hall of Fame Superstar Kurt Angle written by Len Davies and directed by Len Davies, Douglas Coleman and Amit Medina produced by Len Davies and Amit Medina
Hollywood World: What makes a good scene partner?
Christopher Torretto: To me a good scene partner is one that understands you fully. Understands your concept of the character and how your portraying them and knows exactly how to bounce off your character and also gives you inspiration to put more into the scene and bounce back off their abilities. Someone you can easily talk to on and off set and make a good relationship with mostly understand and you will know exactly what to expect from them and they’ll know exactly what to expect from you.
Hollywood World: What are your favorite projects you have been part of?
Christopher Torretto: Up to now I have done twenty three films in thirteen months so I’ve had a lot of amazing projects. It’s difficult to find one specific role as I’ve played a soldier in which the entire dialogue of the film was improvisation and this can be seen at the start of my showreel. But I’ve also played and ex UDR officer which fitted perfect with my accent and the fact am from Northern Ireland. Also in this role I got to show a range of emotions and action . But still have so much more to show. Honestly I’ve loved every role I’ve done as I get to make the character my own and that’s what I love about my job .
Hollywood World: How much experience do you have in field?
Christopher Torretto: I wasn’t lucky enough to study acting I wish I could have but while others where attending college and acting courses I was looking for my next safe place to sleep and how to work out how I was getting my next meal . I met the late Richard Hatch (battlestar galactica) who told me I have the it factor.
I have always loved movies and wanted to be an actor but that was only a dream for me. When you come from the background I have you can’t help but tell yourself you’ll never amount to anything. But when I took up acting and people told me how good I was I just jumped in two feet first and knew without any qualifications or experience I would have to work harder than anyone else and that’s exactly what I did. I applied for every job I could and constantly worked harder every time I was on set to get to where I am now.
Hollywood World: Describe your best quality as an actor?
Christopher Torretto: A director once said I have a certain quality . When I walk into the room I command attention and just like Johnny Depp was told I just have IT. I honestly think my best quality is the fact I have more of a drive and ambition than anyone I’ve ever met. I have a fear that drives me to succeed the fear of going back to my old life and being lost in society. So I am always first on set and last to leave . I have been told I bring a whole new level to every set am on which honestly the best thing I could ever ask for . I can connect with characters I play on a different level and use my past experiences to bring out my emotions . I’ve turned my negative past into a positive . My most recent compliment came from the last director I worked with who told me I have unbelievable screen presence and brought a different kind of action to the film.
Hollywood World: What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Christopher Torretto: I love everything to do with my job. I love the people I get to meet and work with. The places I get to see. The fact that I get to bring someone’s idea to life and create a whole new person. I get to live a million lives in one lifetime . My career is acting but this week I could be a soldier then next week a gangster or a police officer . What other line of work do you get to experience so many different lives? It’s truly an amazing feeling . Am very proud to be apart of this industry and know I can bring something new .
Hollywood World: What have you learned from the directors that you have worked with throughout your career?
Christopher Torretto: I’ve learnt to never hold back never put boundaries on my skills . If I have it show it. Don’t be afraid to just go for it and if I have an idea and it feels right . Try it. There’s a chance the director will love it and keep it in the edit.
Hollywood World: What has been your biggest achievement in the field of acting?
Christopher Torretto: I’ve done so many films in such a short period that a lot aren’t even released then some others are still circling the film festivals so there’s a chance an award may appear in the future. Up to now my biggest achievement is the fact I went against all odds of everyone telling me I couldn’t do it and that I’d never make it anywhere in my life and proved them wrong. My biggest achievement is finishing twenty three films in thirteen months and working as hard as I can . The only person I compete against is myself I strive to be better each time . So every set am on is an achievement.
Hollywood World: What other types of movies would you be interested in filming?
Christopher Torretto: I’d love to be considered for anything that is made by Seven Bucks Productions and HBO’S Ballers. I look up to Dwayne Johnson as inspiration and definitely share his work ethic. It would be a dream and an honor to work alongside him in one of his productions.
Hollywood World: How do you see your role as an actor?
Christopher Torretto: To give the audience an unforgettable performance to give them something believable . If you can tell an actor is acting then that’s not believable . So my job Is to bring my character to life and make the audience connect with him and feel this person exists in real life.
Hollywood World: What was your most memorable role? Why?
Christopher Torretto: That’s a difficult question as I have done so many amazing roles. I’ve been lucky to work with people who have written fantastic characters . But if I was to choose I’d have to go for the lead role in played in the movie A New Wave. The entire script was improvisation . I was given a breakdown of a character and told make it my own and when the director shouts action it was all up to me what I said . You can see this at the start of my showreel where I make a speech. That was a moment to remember as that was only my second film and I have received unbelievable feed back for that role .
Hollywood World: What is your secret?
Christopher Torretto: Honestly there is no secret. It’s hard work and a drive to be better today than I was yesterday. A fire inside that gets me up everyday, straight to the gym and off to work. If am not working am looking work it’s a feeling I have I know I have to work harder than anyone if I want to get seen. I want to give my family a life so far from what mine was and when your driven by your kids there is no stronger or better reason to succeed .
Hollywood World: What other hobbies do you have?
Christopher Torretto: I have always had a love for training, Bodybuilding. It saved my life . When I was homeless and at my worst I was lucky enough to meet a very dear friend that showed me bodybuilding and that soon became my way of life . It got me off the streets and into work. It became apart of me. Anytime my life was tough or I had something tragic happen like the loss of a friend the gym was there for me.
Even now when am learning scripts and travelling constantly to work I need release and to blow off steam and stress and the gym is there for me. I have to thank Xercise4less Darlington United Kingdom for being there for me now while am training to get ready for LA . Nothing better than a great gym with fantastic equipment and a friendly atmosphere with a great team.
Hollywood World: Who is your role model?
Christopher Torretto: Definitely Dwayne The Rock Johnson. As a kid I had posters of him all over my walls from WWE. When I left home I carried a poster of him in my bag as inspiration as a dream of a better life. I carried that poster until just last year where it go destroyed by a flood in our home. But I had that and never lost it for almost thirteen years. Now the fact he’s an actor and huge in the fitness world he inspires me in so many ways . To train harder to be a better actor and to never give up. His work ethic is unmatched but am hoping to be at that level . I hope to work with him one day, shake his hand and thank him for years of inspiration.
Hollywood World: What makes you feel like a star?
Christopher Torretto: Am definitely not a star. Kids out there fighting disease, homelessness those that fight for our countries and get injured but keep going. Those that are fighting extreme lives but won’t give up on there dream. Those willing to do what it takes to succeed. They are the stars. Maybe others may one day see me as a star but I’ll always see them as the stars as nobody knows what someone is going through in their life and what people have beat and stood against to be who they are today.
Hollywood World: Any tips about how to be a successful actor?
Christopher Torretto: Never give up. There will be hard times but those times are what test us those times are the tests that separate the successful to the not. Those times test your heart, your mind and willpower. If you can overcome these situation then that’s when you will succeed for you already have. You’ve just became the best version of yourself and that is the best you can be. Enjoy your journey and just go for it. Never fear that jump . Just leap and let the wind of success keep you floating
Lastly I’d like to thank my wife Claire and my kids for always being there. My friend Jeff Maxwell that has honestly helped me through so much these last few years and has been like a father figure to me. Andrew Blanckley for his sponsor and support when I needed it most. This guys heart is huge. My sister my nieces and nephews I don’t have much family and those I do have mean everything to me I just don’t see them enough.
